 As a beginner to the poker world you should adopt some strategies and techniques that a beginner must learn before you challenge proffesional poker players. It may play a very important role, especially in big tournaments where almost every player is experienced enough and know the basics of this game.  You should learn to translate opponents body language and what they say into meaningful insight of what hand they might have in order to win. Proffesional players are usually the ones who know the best time to fold, to see or to raise other players. They have also developed ways through which the psychology of poker can be used for giving them the required edge over other poker players.

It requires a player to vary his poker approach. This means that there should be times that you know how to tactically bluff a game. This, in turn, will make other players have a hard time reading your cards or predict your next moves. Poker Bluffing is a major feature of the game and without Bluffing the game much less interesting for all,  and If you do not bluff, probably there is no way you can be a successful player. Of course it should include risk, but In the long run, this will misleads your opponent and confuses his efforts of reading you.
