Atlantic City
Atlantic City is a city in Atlantic County, New Jersey, USA. Atlantic City is the second most popular gambling destination in the United States.
Atlantic City was incorporated on May 1, 1854 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The new city contained portions of Egg Harbor Township and Galloway Township. Famous for its boardwalk, casino gambling, sandy beaches, and the inspiration for the board game Monopoly.
The first boardwalk was built in 1870, along a portion of the beach to help hotel owners keep sand out of their lobbies. The idea caught on, and the boardwalk was expanded and modified several times in the following years. Today, it is 4.12 miles (6.63 kilometers) long and 60 feet (18 meters) wide, reinforced with steel and concrete.
Weather
Summers can get really hot, and warm air from the Gulf of Mexico can make the humidity stifling. The ocean itself does little to affect temperatures, though the salt air leads to lower snowfall rates along the shoreline during the otherwise cold winters. The state can suffer severe damage every few years from an unexpectedly strong storm but generally rainfall is moderate and evenly spread over the seasons.
Casinos
In 1976, voters approved casino gambling and the city opened its first casino with Resorts International in 1978. Atlantic City now boasts 12 Hotel & Casinos, with more than 14,000 combined hotel rooms available.
When the sun goes down, the excitement goes up. Lounges, bars, nightclubs and restaurants across the city keep their doors open round-the-clock. There’s a reason why the city’s slogan is ‘Always Turned On.
Whatever type of entertainment you are looking for, Atlantic City is almost destined to fulfill your wish. In addition to world-class casino gambling , visitors can browse through an array of stores, from designer boutiques to antiques and memorabilia shops. Relax in European-style spas, dine in New York and international-themed five star restaurants, and watch some of the fantastic and entertaining shows.
