Ryanair Airlines to Offer In-Air GamblingThe Dublin-based company, specialises in cheap, no frills flights in and around selected major cities in Europe plans to attract new customer by adding online gambling opportunities in-flight.
Chief Executive of Ryanair airlines Michael O’Leary has said that the company will soon be offered in-air gambling on some of their flights.
For the gambling system to be operational in flight it must take place in international airspace as the UK Gambling Commission does not issue premises licenses for aircraft. However O’Leary has said he doesn’t envision any licensing issues.
The budget airline announced back in 2005 it plans for an onboard gambling system, when Michael O’Leary said he believed revenue from gaming and gambling could eventually do away with the need for air fares, although the scheme never transpired.
